CATS JUMPING ON MY STOMACH AFTER SURGERY!

I have 3 cats.  I just had surgery and came home last Friday so I've been home for 7 days now.  When I go to bed my door has to be open or my little ones cry (my cats) all night and you feel bad and can't sleep.  One of my cats has taken to jumping on my stomach when I am sleeping.  Today she jumped from the end table onto my stomach and used that as a launching pad to jump off the bed and onto the floor. I know this can hurt my stomach right after surgery.   Does or did anyone else have any issues like this???

Hi, Jenn, I have four cats, and I know just what you mean. I have been lucky so far, and in fact it would be fine if they jumped on me now that I am nearly three weeks out. But you on the other hand need to protect your tummy. The only thing that worked for me after another abdominal surgery was to put a pillow over my tummy at night. It seems cumbersome but if you place it under the covers, it might help to protect you. Even try a couple of towels if the pillow is too much - anything to give you some extra padding. I understand about closing the door and the crying that happens - one of my black cats, Abby, hates closed doors and will scratch and cry for hours if one is closed. It can be very annoying, but I think it's a separation thing with her. Let me know how this works, okay? Hugs, Susan

Hi Jenn, I had the same issue. I only have 1 cat, and he's extremely spoiled...especially by my husband. Anyway, after surgery, I spent a lot of time in the living room recliner, and kitty always felt that was an open invitation to jump on me. My savior was a pillow. It was a huge help. I always put it on me when I was sitting in the chair and I also kept one close to me at night while sleeping. Good luck with your weight loss. Shelley

Do you have any coyotes around? If so, put the cats out at night. In about a week your problem should be taken care of. OK, that was a joke. I have a cat, dog, and kids. The cat gave me more grief than the others put together, and I always had a pillow on my stomach for protection, so it should work fine for you. Good Luck.
