PAIN ON LEFT SIDE OF ABDOMEN

Hello, I just had my operation a few days ago.  I am having this aweful pain on my left side of my abdomen.  Dr. Hess said there would be pain on the left side like this.  I was wondering if anyone else has had this, what you did for the pain as the pain meds don't seem to help.  Can you use a heating pad and if so, does that help?

I had this pain too and thought it was gas. I think it finally went away about my 5th day post op. I'm curious to knwo what it is as well... anyone?
