Help with the first stage

Hi, there.  My name is Rebekah.  I am actually coming up on 3 years since my surgery and doing pretty well.  I am writing here because a friend of mine just had the bypass done...she went in for the laproscopic version, but ended up with the open because of past scarring. Anyway, she is finding herself to be lactose intolerant and not very tolerant of the protein powders (she's tried about 20 of them).  She isn't getting protein in and I don't know what to suggest.  She also isn't able to tolerate any form of sugar, either.  Do you guys have any suggestions?  Thanks! -Rebekah

First she needs to contact her nutri to have her help with any dietary needs she'd be experiencing and guidelines to follow.  I have and still have the same problem.  While I wasn't able to tolerate milk, I was able to tolerate cottage cheese, soft cheese, and yogart.  I was told I could add soup and beans.  But again, that was for me and she really needs to get in contact with her nutri and have her advise her. As for protein supplements.  Boy, I hated them all.  I finally have found one that I can tolerate and love.  It's Unjury.  I add the vanilla flavor to my ice coffee w/a splash of whatever extract I want and get in 20 gm of protein that way.  I sprinkle the unflavored Unjury on my chili and soup (a little at a time but not a whole scoop) just to add extra protein in my day.  While it's important to get the protein in, it's equally important that she's keeping up her strength by eating.  Even having oatmeal and adding Unjury to it would be good for her. I hope this helps out a little.
