Blue Cross Blue Sheild??

Has anyone had any experience dealing w/BCBS for Gastric Bypass? The nurse mgr at my surgeons office was submitting my request today. I was just curious if anyone had any difficulties getting approved, and how long it took for approval.

I have BCBS of IL.. let me know how you make out .. I've heard that BCBS somethings want you to do a 6 month supervised diet... My paper work will be submitted next week.. Keeping my fingers crossed!.. for you and me!

I have BCBS HMO and got approved with no problem.

I have BCBS IL and I had a hard time...my original surgery was scheduled for 1/31/06 and they denied the pre-certification. It took me six weeks of documenting history of obesity and 6 months of supervised diet. They did approve it after 98 pages of documentation! I have heard of other BCBS programs approving immediately. I am scheduled for this Tuesday the 24th and I am terrified but excited! Good luck...if you have any problems let me know and I will help you with what I learned! Jane

I have Empire BCBS of New york and got approved within days.
