I am waiting for my surgery date, but I was told to expect to date of surgery to be about the end of April to mid May. What should I stalk my kitchin with and what is everyones fav protien drink. Should I have prepared dinners in my freezer for my husband so I don't have to cook for a couple weeks? So excited and just want to be prepared. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Amy

Amy Each program is different but you may get a list of what you can and can not eat during the first 4-6 weeks. At Lahey I had my 'food program' 2 weeks before surgery which helped alot to prepare. I also tested a few protein drinks - I didn't like the Whey powder stuff, I do like the AdvantEdge protein drinks and also some drinks that you can purchase from www.smartforme.com - again, check with your nutritionist to see if she has a list of 'approved' drinks. Some programs use Slim Fast some don't - just double check with them first. Good luck!! Lori

AMY - Every program is very different. At MGH, protein shakes are not recommended but it seems to be the center of most other programs. Check with your NUT. Since a lot of water is recommended, I suggest finding the Fruit2O, crystal light, decaffinated teas flavors you like. I found that I had an aweful taste in my month for the first 10-14 days and drinking water all day was not going down well. I fortunately had many flavored teas and Fruit2O to get the required liquid down each day. Yes, make sure your husband is fed. You likely won't feel like cooking for the first 7-10 days but there after, I didn't have a problem.
