Lap Band and Menstruation (for the ladies)

I am wondering if anyone else has had a disruption in their monthy cycle after lap band surgery. I had my lap band surgery last month and skipped my period this month. (Pregnancy test negative). I called my physician's office and they said it's uncommon, but it does happen that surgery can throw off a woman's cycle. Also, it could be the rapid weight loss that has altered the hormones this month. Anyone else have any experience with this? I'm wondering if I should call my gynecologist.

Hi, I didnt have the lap band, but the rny.. Any stress or hormone change can alter your cycle. If this happens on a repeated basis. I would call the MD. (OBGYN). I know that losing weight makes us more fertile. I hope you have a reliable form of Birth control in place. take care!

Hi Nella, my cycle was thrown off after my lap band surgery. I did not miss a month, but ended up being 10 days late. Next time, 10 days early. And I am due again any minute now. I have heard that both surgery and weight loss can throw your cycle for a loop. You should join us at the Lap Band Forum and post your question there as well.
