i just want to ask how other people answer this question. i was excited today about losing the 7 lbs and my boss said "see, you can lose it, you don't need surgery". what do you say to these people. i guess they mean well, but if i could lose it and KEEP it off i would!!!!

I would probably say losing it is one thing, keeping it off is another. People just don't get it unless they have lived it.

My reply was, "Yes, I can lose 10 or even 20 lbs if I struggle very hard, but tha's a very different thing than losing 100 lbs and keeping it off." I also pulled out the 3-5% success rate of people who are morbidly obese who are sucessful at losing and keeping off the weight compared to the 85% of successful WLS patients. Those are documented facts. Hold your own conviction close to you in this time!! Carolyn
