What to bring with me and what to stock up on

Hi all, my surgery currently is scheduled for the twelfth and I am, of course, nervous...I know this has most likely been covered but could people give me suggestions as to what to bring with me and what supplies to stock up on for when I come home. My husband will be home with the kids so it would be great to have a starting list of things that I know I need...Also, as a side note, has anyone had trouble with Tricare not covering lab work because "obesity" is not a diagnosis they cover? Thanks

I have tricare as well. The labs will be covered. They are covered under the follow up of the surgery . They are considered maintance for us now. Just have your PCM put in the labs every three months. When it comes to the gastric bypass they will cover it. Write to me if you have lots more questions. As for supplies for hospital. Get chap stick a must. As soon as you wake you will be married to your chapstick from now on. There is alot we can discuss so email me. Amy before surgery 390lbs day of surgery 304 lbs currently 208lbs. BMI goal 180 - 160 lbs

Hi Amy, Thank you so much for responding. Sorry I didn't get to reply sooner but been on a couple of 12 hour shifts..Are you guys active duty? My dh is retired uscg and with tricare standard, unless you have a diagnosed co morbididty, if you are less than 200 pounds over weight, there is, apparently, a problem..Although they tell me the surgery is approved I can't figure it out.....I would love to talk with you ...My email is [email protected].... Getting very nervous...Bought the chap stick today, by the way..I will be pretty much alone the time I am there because my husband has to come home and look after the kids, so I also have a good book too....Leaving for Boston around 0300....Can I add you to my friends list? My surgery is on the 12th as well. I stocked up a little but not much. What I have right now is broth, SF pudding, SF jello, SF popsicles, creamed soups, and will get the rest when I come home. Actually I'll have my daughter getting it to me. Good luck on Tuesday. We'll do great. The butterflies have invaded my stomach and I can't seem to make them go away.

Hi Lorraine, Thank you so much for responding. My butterflies are great as well....Are you going to Brigham and Womens? How are you doing? My husband can't stay with me because we have three little kids so if you are at Brigham and women's too, maybe we will meet each other but either way BEST of luck to you.....love and prayers, Martha

Hi Marsha, It would be AWESOME to have you stop by. I would love it! I am getting ready to drive in at the moment and the butterflies, as Lorraine says, are fluttering....I am glad you liked Dr. Lautz and thank you for taking your valuable time to come see me...Martha
