I HAVE A QUESTION...I HAVE A QUESTION...
I would like to know from people who have lost weight or has had the surgery, what is it like to be a smaller size after being overweight for so long. I am going to have surgery in January, and that is something I came to realize just now. I had be dwelling over the fact that my health issues will disappear, and it didnt dawn on me that i was going to be a smaller size now. I would love to hear you as you experience weight loss. Thank You so Much... Michelle
Honestly, it's a little strange. I've changed sizes rapidly - I had surgery in June (5 months ago) and I've gone from a 22 to a 6P. I'm now wearing the same size as my mother and sister who have always been smaller than me, even when I was a thin teenager (they are both 4'11" to my stately 5'2" ). I have trouble recognizing my clothes as my own. They look too small.
I've found exercise and especially weight lifting has helped get me more in touch with my ever changing body.
One of the weirder things for me is how different I look from the last time I was this weight. Back in high school I was a gymnast, a swimmer, a dancer and a soccer player - often at the same time, so I was VERY muscular. Now I'm feeling kind of bony, though I'm probably still more muscular than the avarage woman. I don't think I ever saw my shoulder bones before because they were covered with muscle from the swimming year round and then with fat. Now I realize the big shoulders are from my bone structure, not from muscle. I didn't know that!
It's an interesting journey and can be difficult to wrap your head around. I wish you luck!

WOW!!! Carolyn that is amazing, I am hoping to join the gym and do lots and lots of walking after my surgery to help in the weight loss. I cant imagine ever being a size smaller then the size i am now. it definately will be interesting.. thank you so much for sharing your experience.. Keep up the work you look great
Hi Michelle
I had my surgery almost a year ago. I have gone from a siz2 26/28 to a size 8 with a loss of 111 pounds. I still don't see myself being as small as what people tell me. I do notice that I am smaller than what I was. It is taking me along time for my self image to catch up with my own body. Many people that I have not seen recently do not recognize me at all only my voice and they are looking for a large person. It is kind of funny when this happens. Your total look will change exspecially your face. Even though I am happy with my results I still focus on my inperfections such as little bit of skin hanging on my neck, belly and butt really bothers me. I do exercise 4 times a week and my skin is not as bad as some people. This is the best thing I could have done for myself and my health. My quality of life has improved greatly.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery it will be here before you know it.
Janet
Thank You so much for replying, Janet. You have done awesome from a size 26/28 to a size 8 wow. I am a size 26/28 now, I hope to join the gym as well when i am able to. I was told that it does help with the weight loss as well as some loss skin. I think I will have some on my tummy, but I have already made myself deal with it. I am doing this for my health so a little skin compared to living alot longer sounds ok to me. I think i will feel the way you do as well, when i am smaller i dont think i will see myself as small. hey i might not even recognize myself lol. we'll see. keep up the great job and take care

I am about 3 months post op... I was a 26 before surgery, now I am down to a 18/16. I love it, its crazy to me though, I go into the "normal" stores now and go for the biggest size they have when I am not even the biggest anymore. It makes you feel great, I jump up and down and dance in the fitting rooms. People must think im crazy. lol.
