Hi, I am new to the board . My surgery is scheduled for Wed. Nov 1st which seems to be coming pretty quick. I'm nervous and excited. I had to do the liquid diet for these past 2 weeks but it has not been going very well. I have cheated several times although I have gotten all the liquids in. Did anyone else have trouble doing this??

Hi Tanya, I'm having surgery tomorrow also! I have not been on a liquid diet, but have experiencing the "last supper" syndrome! I'm not beating myself up about it though. Are you going to be at St. V's? Patti

Hi Patty, I'm having at NSMC tomorrow. Good luck to you. Are you nervous? NSMC has a program that encorporates Reiki (Japanese relaxation technique) into their surgery. I will have Reiki pre and post Op. I did one session already to see what it was like and I was amazed. Basically a certified Reiki master, who happens to be an RN, does this while they are preping me for surgery, it relaxes you. They say when you are relaxed in this state it helps with needing less anethesia and makes your recovery quicker. They will then see me in the recovery room or when I am assigned to a room and do the relaxation technique again. My first experience with it was incredible. I am hoping that tomorrow will be the same. I wish you luck. Lets catch up when we get out of the hospital. Tanya

Hi Patty, I'm glad that you are well and home. I came home yesterday too. Everything went fine although the surgeon said they had a hard time waking me from the anesthesia and I was in recovery for over 5 hours. Other than that I am feeling okay. I stopped taking the pain meds a few days ago. They were really making me feel sleepy. Now that I am off them I feel much better. I can't get the Carnation Instant Breakfast in and my fluids seem to be taking me forever to drink. My surgeon said that it was normal. Truth is I REALLY don't want to eat or drink anything. I think I have head hunger... I was watching tv today (Food Network... my favorite) and was craving a Turkey Burger but when I cooked my husband dinner the food didn't appeal to me at all. I pretty much feel this way about the drinks too. I'm really not that interested in drinking anything. Since I can't get the CIB in I have been drinking the Smiply Smart milk as it has 10g of protein. Well I hope to chat more later.
