Looking for WLS support group in the Carlisle, Ma area
DS on 03/15/12
Hi,
I had gastric bypass surgery on 8/9/06 in at Boston Medical Center. They have a weekly support group but are located in South Boston and getting in and out of the city during rush hour is just not practical. I live in Carlisle, Ma which is near Bedford, Lexington and Concord. I was wondering if anyone goes to a support group in the area?
To be honest originally I did not feel like I would need a support group. However I find myself at 2 months out of surgery plauged with hunger (perhaps due to insulin I take for diabetes) and not adhering to the diet I was given. I am also surprised that to date I can seem to tolerate most any food I try and eat quite a lot of it. I feel *almost* like there is no change from before the surgery and this is so different from what I understood it would be like.
I know, I know... I went through all this and here I am snacking on things I should not be... I do not understand it myself and it makes me ashamed. I am trying to address it and have an appointment with the program's nutrionist next week. I also felt a support group might help as well.
Thanks very much for reading my message and for any help you can give me. I wish everyone the best.

Hi Terri! There is a WLS support group at Emerson Hospital in Concord. They meet the last Wednesday of every month, I think.

Hi,
Thanks so much for responding to my post. Emerson Hospital is the closest to me and would be the best option. I am going to call them tomorrow and see if I can go even though I had my surgery else where.
I am also having my two month appointments on Thursday. I am going to be 100% honest about my eating and also this intense hunger I feel most of the time.
Thanks again!! Terri Grant
