Sick of protein!

I'm really getting tired of protein, except my isopure shakes, cottage cheese and yogurt. But I can't live on these. Meat and fish really have no appeal for me and I can't tolerate more than a few bites of egg. Any ideas? Thanks, Karen

How about getting a cookbook (or borrowing from the library to try) of either a cuisine that you really like or a new/different cuisine you'd love to try. I know the recipes would have to be adapted somewhat but maybe new flavors/sauces would make things more appealing. Also, does your Dr. have a nutritionist on staff? A good one should have some ideas or be willing to work with you on ways to make protein more interesting. Kim

Karen I know exactly how you feel. I have felt that way sometimes also. I use a vanilla cinammon from IDS and I add a fruit to it and make myself a smoothy. Or I have changed to chocloate mint lately and I dont feel like I am drinking a shake at all. If you are able to have protein bars I use to eat the Luna bars until my doc put me on lower carbs cause I was on a plateau he said once I am to goal I can go back to eating them. But to get my protein in he also told me to eat nuts. Proferably walnuts or almonds because of the good oil in them. So diamond has the flavored almonds I get the maui onion and garlic and pop a few in my mouth through out the day. For the meat thing remember to eat some form of meat in the day even if it is just one bit to make sure your body still digest it. Some people have problems with meat because they go so long without it. For lunch I eat a few slices of turkey with once string cheese rolled up and sometimes I will try a new sauce to dip it in for another added flavor. Lately it has been chipolte sauce. Some days you are going to just bit the bullet. Protein is a supplement now so there will be days you wont want to take your medicine, but just think about the fat coming back on because the body thinks it is malnutritioned. My doctor said the first thing the body does is hold on to the calories and start storing fat when the body is malnutritioned. Plus dont beat yourself up either. This is a new lifestyle for all of us you are not the only one with the protein blues. I am there also with you. Of course giving advice is easier than taking it. That reminds me I need to bit the bullet myself and go make a shake. Let me know how it is going? Another sister tired of protein.
