12 days out..

And surprisingly enough... I'm feeling great. I did the typical 'why did I do this' thinking on day 2... but then as I started to feel better, that was gone. I went to have my staples out on day 8 and had already lost 20 pounds. This to me is phenominal!!! The difference in my body is visible... and my clothes are already sagging on me. Simply amazing. I've had a few issues... one with the shakes... I got so sick of the shakes that I actually experienced anxiety at the idea of drinking them... spoke to my nutritionist and we worked around it... and now I can drink half of one... which is good because I'm really concerned about my protein. Then 2 days ago I just felt like total crap. Like I was never going to get better... going stir crazy in the house... (this was also the shake anxiety day) and the next day I felt fabulous!!! So I'm well on my way to being back to normal. I think maybe I've taken a little longer to heal beause my surgery was done with robotic assistance. I had to agree to it and sign a consent... it's new to this area and to gbs. Because my torso is long I ended up with 8 incisions (the machine couldn't reach) and my surgery was VERY long. I went into the OR at 7:30 am. and wasn't out until around 3 pm. and I had laprascopic. It also took quite some time for the anesthesia to work itself out of my system, since I was under for so long. It really is good to be feeling back to normal now though... it's been a long time coming... or at least it feels that way! So anyway, there's my update. I hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend. Hugs, Mary

glad things are going well Mary! as the pounds come off you'll feel even better about the surgery! soon you'll never have thoughts about "why did i do this" again!!! I'm almost 5 months out and still have issues with getting in all my protein, but keep in mind, the closer you get to the amount of protein your nutritionist tells you to get in, the faster the weight will come off. Your body will hold on to protein and calories (if you're not getting in over 600) and you will lose slow (thats whats happening with me). I force shakes down just so I'm getting in 60-80 grams a day (today I had 3 shakes because I haven't felt like eating much over the past couple days). I found a shake that is the same consistancy as juice and LOVE it!!! Its called IsoFruit (not isopure). They make a cantaloupe flavor that taste just like the fruit! The other flavors are green apple, cherry and pineapple. I didn't like the pineapple, green apple was ok, but I couldn't do it everyday and the cherry I didn't try because I heard it wasn't the greatest.... www.wlssupplies.com sells samples if you're looking for new shakes! I cant do the thick milky shakes they're just too heavy and a few sips later I'm already full so its not worth it... good luck on your journey

I buy it on www.wlssupplies.com because its the cheapest price. I've searched all over for it and its usually priced around 35 ormore and shipping is higher than wlssupplies. She sells it for 25.95 and shipping isn't bad. I buy 2 at a time just so I don't run out!! heres the link for it... http://www.wlssupplies.com/shop/customer/home.php?cat=72 the first 4 are juice consistancy the others (protein delite) is thick like a milk shake and they have fruit pieces in them (chocolate coconut has chocolate bits and coconut, raspberry yogurt has bits of raspberries, etc) I've tried them before surgery and loved them, after surgery they were just too thick and the fruit made me even more full! the last item on the page (bottom right) you can order individual samples.. Page 2 you can order the Sci-tec Nutrition sample pack which is IsoFruit and Protein Delite.. the site loads a little slow, but with prices much cheaper than others... its worth it

Congrats to you on your WLS!!! When I was at your stage my Nutritionist wanted me to drink Carnation Instant Breakfast with egg whites in it which caused me a great deal of axiety as well because it was pretty gross . I found the hot chocholate and chicken broth products from http://www.smartforme.com/index.asp to be quite excellent for the first 3 months after WLS.. warm shtuff just felt so much better on the pouch!! Their fruit drinks taste like tang and are worth a try as well. I didn't really like anything else off their site.. but thought I would let you know about them. good luck to you April R
