moods.. help
Ok... It has been 22 days since my surgery, everything has been going wonderful. I am 48 yrs old, I have NEVER had a problem with depression or mood swings before. I have always been suzy sunshine.. always upbeat and high on life. The past few days I all of a sudden feel so sad for no reason. I just want to (and sometimes do) cry and I have no reason why.
Has anyone else had this problem after surgery? Or maybe its the menopause... whatever it is.. it is new to me and I don't like it.
I sure hope it passes quickly, it really doesnt become me lol

Hi Trish.... YES.... I felt that way a lot furing the early stages. Hormones fluctuate a great deal after weight loss. I also think that every new post op thinks they will be "the only one it doesn't work for". Subconsciously I think we expect to wake up at goal overngith an dwhen it is a slow process that makes you feel helpless since you have no idea what the end point will be. This is very normal and common and it will pass. I hope you feel better!!!Take care, Hugs, Stef
Hi Trish,
What you are experiencing is normal - it's got to do with the hormones being so out of whack - both my husband and I had RNY 6 weeks apart last winter - it happened to both of us - I was in worse shape because of the estrogens - they are stored in our fat - especially that danged belly fat- with the rapid weight loss thats going on right at first it's being re released into our bloodstreams - hence tears and even wild fluctuations in moods... to say nothing about what's going on with our heads - so much change is occurring all at once almost.... Hang in there--- it does and will get better...Follow what you know is the plan your Dr. has laid out - drink drink drink, get in your protein and vitamins - everyday- and mooooove - walk or bike, join curves - whatever works for you.
