Bette B.’s Posts
I posted to your main forum post, but I'll be give you a brief recap here: RELAX.
Could it be caused by the band? YES!
IMHO, it's most likely acid reflux caused by a) a too tight band, b) lying down too soon after eating or c)both.
Get in to see your SURGEON - someone who knows about bands - and get it looked at. You may need to have some fluid out. And do it ASAP.
Type 2 diabetes for about 10 years prior to surgery, taking 2 oral meds and 2 insulins. After about a year out, and a lot of pounds gone, I was off everything and my BGLs have been perfect.
You had surgery YESTERDAY? Well, you had a bunch of hole*****hed through skin and muscle which were subsequently stitched back up.
Yeah, you're having post surgical pain. It's gonna last more than 24 hours. Take the pain meds - that's what they're for. If it's gas pain you're feeling, try to get up and move around as much as possible. That will help.
PS: Herbalife is a crap pyramid scheme. It doesn't work. Save your money.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If you're happy and doing fine, just let it ride.
I'm not going to try to talk you into or out of anything. I will just congratulate you on starting you new life, and to say that in 2 weeks, I will hit my 11th anniversary with my band. Given the options now available for WLS, I would still make the same choice.

I'm just going to echo everything that Kate said. And BTW, next month will be my ELEVENTH bandiversary!
I DID, but of course I didn't receive a notification email. I just saw the request the other day and approved it.
If you're not having any problems, why on earth would you want to take it out?
Only YOU can answer this question. And by the mere fact that you posted the question, I think you already know that it's probably not a wise move for you.
Sorry, don't know anything about him. Have you asked on the New York forum?
It is leaking? Is the tube leaking? How did they determine that it's "broken"?
And I assume that the NHS is not an American entity, so perhaps someone from your country (UK?) could help.
It's still early on. I only had the fill done on Friday. But I am feeling a little snugness.
Specific symptoms may vary based on what type of gallbladder condition you have, although many symptoms are common among the different types of gallbladder problems. But most gallbladder symptoms start with pain in the upper abdominal area, either in the upper right or middle.
Below are common symptoms of gallbladder conditions:
- Severe abdominal pain
- Pain that may extend beneath the right shoulder blade or to the back
- Pain that worsens after eating a meal, particularly fatty or greasy foods
- Pain that feels dull, sharp, or crampy
- Pain that increases when you breathe in deeply
- Chest pain
- Heartburn, indigestion, and excessive gas
- A feeling of fullness in the abdomen
- Vomiting, nausea, fever
- Shaking with chills
- Tenderness in the abdomen, particularly the right upper quadrant
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
- Stools of an unusual color (often lighter, like clay)
(laughs) I had 4 in MINE, too, but I went and got a 1 cc fill last week.
My weight loss was insane. I lost 100 pounds in 6 months and 150 in a year, and it just kept going. My surgeon warned me that losing that fast would result in some rebound. It did, which was good. The downside was that the rapid loss caused a gigantic hiatal hernia that caused me to vomit almost everything I ate or drank, which caused a band slip. While that was going on - with no food going in - I actually started GAINING weight which, to this day, I still can't explain. My 2003 band was a 4 cc one and, while my surgeon was in repairing the HH he replaced the old one with the (then) newer 10 cc band.
Before and after the surgery, my band were emptied which allowed me to eat more and, of course, I did, which also helped bring some of my weight back. That was in 2008. I've been maintaining what I feel is a "tolerable" weight: about 15 pounds heavier than I'd like to be, but a lot of what I've gained is muscle, now that my DH and I are going to the gym 3-4 times a week.
Finding the right fill level can be hard sometimes. It's possible/probable that your perfect fill level is between 4 and 7. Sometimes an amount as small at 0.1-0.5 cc can make all the difference in the world. Why not try 5 as your level?
