I am scheduled to have my band removed next month based on the same reasons. I am now considering the sleeve but have many questions. How is your reflux? I am so over waking up nightly choking and sleeping upright.

.I also got the band in 2008. Weight loss was successful until 2014. I started regaining and having acid reflux which was like a belly full of fire. I had my band removed dec 2018, and got the sleeve. I'm so glad I did it. I was miserable. I weighed 260 Dec 5 at the time of surgery. Today I weight 210 and I feel great. Removing the band was a bit painful but after 2weeks I could feel the difference

I had lapband surgery 10 years ago and recently had .5 taken out of my band because of reflux. I have been very successful in my journey. One question I'd like to pose, which is really none of my business, is to ask, did you have any counseling to support you during this journey? Problems or bumps in the road do pop up, not necessarily related to food, and a counselor certainly helps keeps our thoughts on the straight path. What do you think? Marti

Similar situation here. Had the band in 2005. Lost roughly 60 pounds. Developed a slow leak and band had broken in a few places inside me and was no longer effective. The bariatric surgeon I was referred to (my OG surgeon was no longer covered by my insurance that time) refused to remove my band at that time. Then he agreed to remove it only if I revised to another surgery, which proved that he was only out to make money. I finally walked into his office one day and literally went berserk on him and he finally agreed to remove it without a scheduled revision. However, I soon decided it probably wasn't the best idea to have this dishonest person perform surgery on me, so I walked away from him and waited many years. Eventually, my insurance once again covered my OG surgeon so I went to see him. Although he wants to revise me due to weight gain, he isn't pushing for it and is more than willing to remove my band without definite plans for a revision. Although I was thinking he'd suggest the sleeve, he actually feels RnY would be better. He's concerned that if I get the sleeve, I'll return to him sometime in the future for another revision.

I did but I didn't lose any more than 5 lbs. They could never get the right amount in my tube. I have also been thinking a Gastric but don't know. Have you had the gastric. If so please let me know. Thank you

Hopefully you did your research and did not move forward with a band. They have the highest complication and removal rate (up to 70%) and only a 20-15% success rate. That is what the studies show. You are basically much more likely to be maimed by it, than successful with it.

Taking some of the fill out won't help or removing all fill for a while but not removing the band won't help?
