Lapband to RNY revision
im looking for encouragement right about now because I feel like death... I'm on an emergency list to get revised in about 2 months. I'm seriously malnourished because of my band. It won't let anything through. I've had my upper gi and every other tests. I just want to know if you had the RNY did you feel better? Was it a good decision etc?

Most feel better right away. In the mean time I would suggest you try to drink protein shakes or even one of the nutritional drinks like Ensure or Boost, they don't taste the greatest but at this point you have to look at it as medicine to keep you healthy until you can get the band out. I had to drink Ensure for awhile because I was losing so fast I was losing my muscles and that's not a good thing. Really damages your strength. Anyway what I did was use the vanilla flavor and add flavorings like the crystal light or all the coffee flavorings. I could just tell myself it was an iced coffee and it really wasn't bad at all. It kept me going for a few months until I could eat better! Good luck to you!
If the band isn't letting anything through, then it's too tight ... try eliminating solution from it ...........
with my band, the doctor filled it almost entirely once ... over the weekend i couldn't even drink a sip of water .... lost about 12 pounds in 2-3 days .... not real fat ... i became lethargic quickly ... not being able to e ven drink water ....
went in and they put some solution back in and i was good to go again ...
the rny works nicely ... but keep in mind that those surgeries have a life span of about 5 years and then you hopefully have learned enough that you can handle your weight problem yourself ...
