New Bandster...

I was pretty upset at his accusation.  I was not able to get down the foods he accused me of eating.  Within those 7 days it took me 30 to 45 minutes to even get a tablespoon of liquid down or a tablespoon of the liquid pain reliever I was prescribed after surgery.

The most I lost with the lap band was 9-10 pounds.  That 10 pound weight loss occurred after my 1 week post op appointment. I was happy. I thought I was on the road to success, but soon my weight loss stopped for me and I began to gain.

On my surgery date I was 221. Before the mandatory nutrition classes I was 237 pounds and by the end of the 6 months I got down to 221 easily, but for some reason the band made it impossible for me to lose weight thereafter.  I have gotten my thyroid checked 3 times and I don't have thyroid issues. I don't have PCOS or anything I like that. I am active and follow a high protein, low carb diet despite my failure with the lap band, but miraculously no weight loss.  If I do lose weight it's a game of losing 3 pounds, gaining those 3 pounds back, then losing them again, then gaining them back again and so worth.

Wow!!!! Thank you for sharing! Did anyone figure out why this happened? Have you gotten the band removed?!

Post-op your body is still healing. 4 weeks usually is when they begin to do Saline fills which normally helps with weight loss of an average of 2 lbs per week so even at a month that only amounts to 8 lbs a month. Which is a good goal :) if someone is losing 30 lbs in the first month that may be due to the liquid diet before and after that accounts that that large of a WL. And unrealistic . good Luck!!

Very true! I am definitely focusing on small, obtainable goals for myself & trying hard to stay off the scale. Even though I opted to have surgery as that extra push I needed, I know that slow & steady wins the race. THANK YOU!

Try not to be discouraged. It took awhile to gain the weight and it takes awhile to get it off. As long as you are losing a pound a week you are fine. Everyone loses at a different pace. Are you exercising? That is the best plateau buster. Follow your surgeons protocols. Make sure you are seeing him often for band adjustments. Good luck. Mona
