Acid Reflux while sleeping...

I have just started having really really bad acid reflux when I go to sleep. Not during the day after I eat or drink anything just when I go to sleep even if I am sleeping in upright position. Any suggestion....anyone else have this problem?

Make an appt to see your doctor and get some saline out. You don't give us much information but I am assuming you are not newly banded? It is not uncommon for scar tissue to build up after a few years and cause the band to feel tighter.

It has happened to me twice, once at around 4 or 5 years and once at about 7 years. Both times I had a tiny amount removed (just 0.1 ml) and that sorted it out for me. My reflux was night-time only but less severe than yours. But as it is not during the day and not related to means, this may well be your problem.

Don't leave it. Night time reflux can be dangerous. It can damage sensitive tissue, lead to oesophageal problems and even to pneumonia if you inhale the acid.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Keep track of what you eat/drink late in the day and when you eat/drink it. If you're not doing it, try to stop eating 3 or 4 hours before bed time. If you already are, I second Kate's advice.

I had reflux after my 4th fill and had to have some saline taken out. I also don't eat after 5pm. Even with the saline removed I have reflux if I eat dinner, so I try not to eat solid food after 4pm. A protein shake is usually ok.  I did have pneumonia as well. It was treated with antibiotics.

See your doctor and have some saline removed. You are risking aspiration pneumonia.

You need saline taken out.  I had to do that for the last 9 months until empty and than the band removed.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
