Does anyone have anything good to say about Lap-Band?
Good luck.

telling our stories isn't "bashing". Those of us who've suffered because of our bands have every right, and I feel a responsibility to share the risks of this soon-to-be obsolete device. Calling us bashers literally adds insult to injury and is no different than any other type of name calling.
I'm glad your doing well with your band, just leave out the name calling and just share your positive experience, please.
...so the question can only be answered by those who say yes?? Your answer was entirely appropriate except for saying "bashers run rampant here..." I don't recall any of us (former happy bandsters) using a derogatory description for those who are problem free. I personally know several former bandsters on feeding tubes due to the damage from their bands. It's a highly emotional issue if you've a) lost your band b) lost your ability to eat c) can barely go out in public for fear of becoming ill or d) all of the above. To resort to applying a negative misnomer to a group of people who've been through enough and expect them to not answer the question honestly is quite cruel.
My story starts off good...I had my band 3 years. It allowed me to lose 120 lbs. I went from a size 26/28 to a size 12. 6 months after having it placed, I ended up with a port infection. After several rounds of antibiotics, the port was replaced. I was in a LapBand photo shoot and even interviewed for a commercial. For the posts of members saying they were cautious and followed the rules and never had trouble. I followed the band rules to a "T". I was cash pay and was determined after spending so much $ that it would work. I never drank with my meals. I only ate 3 small meals a day. I never ate bread or pasta. I never drank caffeinated beverages. I never even chewed gum. I didn't overfill my band... BUT I did end up with an erosion. I searched for the best revision specialist in the area, transferred my records and had my band removed. I ended up with a 5 day hospital stay with the "outpatient" procedure due to the damage. I had to have my stomach repaired with adhesive and tissue. It couldn't be sutured. There was nothing to hold them in place. My stomach looked like ground meat. Here I am 6 months later. Since the removal 12/31/13 I have had 3 EGD's with dilations because the scar tissue cause from the damage and I am still experiencing problems. I am on 2 different stomach medications daily. As for a revision, it's not happening due to the damage. So here I am. Back to square one. Once again dieting to maintain my weight loss. I'm not going to say I would never have had it done if I had known the risks. I did my research. I figured the risks were low compared to the quality of life I was having at 290 lbs. I am not sorry I had WLS I just wish I would have opted for a more "permanent" one.
