lap band tubing becoming disconnected not at port but in the middle of the tube.
I Question HOW they even determined this? Was a Cat Scan done? If so did they notice that the Tubing isn't connected? Is it Freefloating inside the abdomen? That can be a serious Internal problem if that is the case. I'd go back to your Surgeon and discuss your Options. None of us are qualified to tell you what to do and even IF anyone else has had this occur it doesn't mean your experiences will be anything like their's. Again , If the tubing is disonnected you need to have surgery again to repair this, possibly even get an entirely new band, it's not a simple fix..SORRY Sure hope you get answers SOON!!

Easy, remove some of the saline and replace it with contrast. Do an upper GI and see where the leak is coming from.
So, you're saying the tubing just broke or split? That's a new one! I've never heard of that happening. How did they determine that it was broken in the middle? Either way, you will probably need to have a port/tubing replacement. It's not doing you any good detached from the band.
I've never had my port replaced but I've heard it's not that difficult.
Best,
Lisa O.
That's a new one on me, too. I had a port revision (my port had flipped) and while it wasn't fun, it wasn't awful either. It was done as same-day surgery.
Good luck!

Yep, heard about them disconnected at port and band but never in the middle as it is a solid piece. Let us know how the surgery goes to fix it. If it is broke in the middle they will have to remove it at the band and port. I only know of people having them repaired at the port. I have also heard here of some coming undone and floating and going places that cause problems so you do need to follow up on it.
Did they inject you under floro and see it leak out in a weird spot to determine this? I have seen this here and they found the tube had been nicked by a needle.
Hello! I just came across your post as I have the same issues... I was having severe pain on my left side, went to the ER and they found the tubing to my lap band was broken in the middle. Half of the tube (port side) is down in my pelvic area and the other half that is connected to the band is hanging down from the band.
I saw my band doctor who said the Band has to be removed (scheduled surgery January 24th of this month) and he recommended the Sleeve.
I was curious to what your experience was with the tube broken in the middle... Did you have the Band removed? Did you have pain from the broken tube?
Thank you!!
Laurie
I just found out the pain I have been experiencing in my left lower abdomen is the result of the tubing from my access port coming loose.
I had seen a gastroenterologist, under the suspicion that I had something going on with my colon since that is the area where the pain was. One of the tests her performed was a CT scan of the abdomen. His office called to tell me the results of the CT scan, which was the access port/tube problem.
I made an appointment with my lap band doctor, and am eager to discuss my options for correcting this problem.
If anyone reading this post has experienced this problem, can you let me know how it was handled by your doctor?
Thanks!
