When is this crazy apple I ate 8 hours ago gonna leave me alone?!?  (I only ate about 1/3 of it.  It wasn't peeled, so I'm thinking that it was the problem is.  This is the first time I've tried apple since my surgery 9 weeks ago.)  The pain finally subsided, and I can drink liquids fine.  But then I went to eat dinner, had a couple bites, and immediately felt stuck again.  So I switched to chicken broth.  Went down fine and pain finally subsided.  So later in the evening I tried half of a protein cookie.  Pain again!  Any tricks/tips you all can offer??

It probably has to run its course.  It may have irritated the heck out of your pouch.

i strongly suggest liquids or mushies for a day or two to let things settle down.

Feel better soon.

I think 9 weeks out may be a bit too early, myself.  That said, I would peel the apple.  And, if you don't have someone to share it with, go get some Fruit Fresh so you can store leftovers to eat later without them discoloring due to oxidation.

Bekah....go to Walmart and buy some Papaya Enzymes.   Those will help break down whatever is stuck no matter what WLS you have.   I keep a bottle in my car and in my house just in case it happens to me.    Chew about 3 and they taste really good.    I feel your pain and hope that feeling goes away soon and you will again be able to eat.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

I was taught once you have a stuck episode you go on liquids 24 hours then mushies 24 then introduce regular food!  Good luck to you!

Same here,  once stuck, we were to go back to shakes for 24-48 hours and than mushies another 24-48 hours.  We also weren't allowed fresh fruit like apples that soon.

What you have done is irritated that area were it was stuck. Now it is inflamed/swallow and it needs to settle back down.
