This is not a promotion of the Lap band, just my OWN personal journey and what my Lap band has done for me over the years! I am not skinny, but I am happy and can wear normal clothes, and don't have to kill myself to maintain and keep my weight down and still eat yummy foods at restaurants.
I am not skinny, that has never been my goal, however I am very healthy and satisfied with my weight and I don't take any medications, in fact I forget to even take a multi-vitamin daily, I need to get better at that.
The band is not for everyone, it's just right for me, and I would not change to anything else, I experienced a hiccup in my journey last year, after eating too much salsa and constantly eating too much with my husband on a restricted band and inflamed a hernia, I got my old band removed, hiatal hernia fixed, new band all in one surgery, and I have not had any burning or reflux since, and I am very grateful and humble that I have a new chance with my band. I am honest about my journey and am very happy that I gave the band a second chance. This is where I started in 2005

Hello all....
I am five and a half years post Lapband and have maintained my weight throughout that time. I have lost 138 pounds, with much work. A day does not go by where I do not exercise. It has been a very hard journey, as I sometimes wish I could have had my mind banded rather than my stomach. I struggle with slider foods and ice cream all the time, although lately it is getting better. I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to have the band; however, I know that it could be a day by day thing after I read some of the stories on the board. So I will take today and use it to my best ability and hopefully get through without any complications.
I have had to have unfills due to other surgeries I have had, but lucky for me, I have always been able to get back to my sweet spot. I am sorry for all the patients who have not had good luck with their bands, but like I say, I consider myself blessed on a daily basis and hope to not take my band for granted because I know any given day, could be the be all end all.

Hello NanaB. !
I love reading your posts! I am so impressed with your candidness, regarding your weight loss journey and how brave you are in displaying your before/after photos. I am still deciding on whether to have lap-band surgery or not. I thought that I had made up my mind, but after viewing other posts by other persons who have had scary results, I'm becoming overwhelmed. I am an amputee (left leg, BTK) and know first hand about the fears of surgery, as well as the dangers. My leg surgery had nothing to do with my weight. I am not diabetic. It was due to a bone infection. Anyhow, I like the options regarding the lap-band....less invasive, can be reversed, etc. If I decide on the lap-band, I would be diligent in following the rules that my doctor would require of me...in order to "tip the scales" (no pun intended) toward success and minimizing problems. I just wanted to touch base and extend my sincere congratulations to you for your weight loss accomplishment!
Sincerely,
JohnnaB.
Blessings,
