Now that you are about 4 months out with the sleeve, how do you like it?

I am loving it!  I heard over and over the sleeve does what the band promised and didn't, they are right.  I have restriction, no trying to guess do I need a fill or am I too tight.   I get full on small amounts and stay that way longer.  I am at a new low that I haven't been since the birth of my 2nd DD 32 years.  I lost the band regain and am now 15/20 pounds less than I ever was with the band in four YEARS in four MONTHS.  Yes, as a revision I am losing slower than most the virgins  At the center I was counted as a success and perfect band patient.

This is so easy breezy compared to the band. (Not that you don't still have to put the work into it)   I was telling the therapist today that I felt I lived at the center with the band.  Now, I just have to remind myself to get the labs done and check in as needed.

I want to add that for a couple months I lived in fear that I would fail at this too and that my failure with the band must have been my fault, even with all the medical evidence to the contrary.  My brain knew otherwise but, my emotions listened still to those that blasted us.

I hope this helps some.  How you doing?

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

So glad to hear that! :) Well I got sleeved on 4/24/13 (Day 20 today) and I'm loving it! It does seem easy because I am making healthy choices on what I'm going to eat, have a few bites, and I'm full! I love it. Thankfully I had zero complications after the surgery and am still doing fine. I'm currently on the mushies right now, but know it will only get better food wise.

Well I'm glad all is well with you and that you're happy having the band removed and now sleeve. Best of luck to you!

IT sounds to me that there are 2 issues. If there is a "leak" in your pouch doesn't that mean a leak in your stomach???? That would be serious.

There is a good post re: sinus problems just after you posted. It is so worthwhile to go to an ENT (ear nose and throat) or allergist or both to look into that. It is sooooo worthwhile to be able to breathe and smell with no sinus drainage!

I am sorry you are going through this!

Sorry... I used the wrong wordage.  I have a leak in the pouch of the band.   I don't even know the real technical term for that... balloon? not sure....

I've been to an ENT about a year ago when I had my tonsils out at age 30.  He said that the reason for my drainage was because of my enlarged tonsils, and my body's natural response was to produce more drainage to flush out any infection in my tonsils.  The surgery helped for about 6 months, and now the drainage is back.  I think I'm going to try some claritin for a week and see if that helps any.

NO you are not over reacting, you should be frustrated, angry and sad,  please listen to you body, before it is too late, your story is not abnormal, I want to give you some hope...

the amount of pain I have endured is really not explainable,  it was like I was watching my life on tv or something, not living it, because it was too crazy, and that was very much so an understatement.  I will try to be brief....  I developed well documented severe late complications of the LAP-BAND including, dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, severe vomiting (requiring hospitalization), anterior and posteria hiatal hernia, anterior band slip, severe esophageal dysmotility, poor primary peristaltic wave, severe tertiary peristaltic wave, achalasia, marked esophageal dilation, gastroesophogeal erosion, gastric antral erosion,  and significant adhesions. These were confirmed by fluoroscopy, endoscopy, CAT, manomotry,  and operative reports.  I have permanent irreversible damage.

you don't have to live like this, there is something wrong, please get yourself checked via diagnostic tests, before you have permanent damage.  the day after band explant I felt  better than I had in years.

I wanted to add...you are not alone in this....
