You guys are so awesome and thank you so much for making me feel like I'm not all alone in this.   I have searched high and low for anyone having a complication like this and found nothing.  I think this is part of the reason why I felt like my lap band doctor was treating me like I was nuts.

I go monday for the heart monitor and I talk to a cardiologist.  This has been such a bad experience for me.   Depression has reared it's ugly head a few times.   Being afraid of food really sucks.   I was prepared for the fact that I had to change my eating habits.  I was prepared for everything, I thought.   But, I was not prepared for what I got.

I'm afraid too.  But truthfully I just want something done, even if it does mean a pacemaker.   I have had several attacks that were so bad.   I can't even describe it.   Truthfully I think I've been very close to arrest on at least two occasions.   Both of those involved me actually going into a seizure because my brain was not getting enough blood to function.   This has to stop, whatever it takes.

I do hope that we do not get to the point where we are seriously thinking that a vagotomy is the answer because I certainly don't want that.   It was mentioned that a vagotomy may be the only way to stop the vaso vagal response.   I certainly hope not.

At any rate,   I welcome Monday and hopefully the answers will begin to show themselves and I can try to go back to some sort of a normal life again.

Thank you all so very much for your support and for sharing your similar problems.  I can't begin to tell you how much that helped!

Update.

Last Thursdayy, I had a pacemaker placed.   Finally I am able to eat without passing out.  I am so happy to have my life back.   I'm so thankful this is finally over.   The cardiologist was great.  Believed every word I said.  But a 48 hour halter monitor on me and sure enough, every time I ate I got bradycardic.   It was however, worse than we thought.  I had a heart rate that dropped to 13 beats per minute but I also had starts and stops. Really not good.

As I have mentioned before.  I had NONE Of this prior to the lap band.  My lap band nearly killed me.

I am wishing you the best in your recuperation. Hopefully this is the answer for you, although I am SO sorry you had to experience such a thing.  Heal up well!

Last year I had several "stops and starts" lasting for hours at times.  That is scary s**t!

Thank you so much for posting your story here.  I am so sorry that you are going through all of this.  I hope that things continue to get better and better for you.  It is so good of you to post this, with all that you are going through, to try and help others avoid this.

Thank you so much for your post. I am doing a lot of research before I decide to have this done and so much of it feels like a sales-pitch but I am concerned about my health and am frustrated that the weight is not coming off. I know I have other options to explore but want to hear the potential problems vs just all the good stuff. I pray you are feeling better and recovering from all you have all gone through. After hearing all of your posts I will probably explore other options first. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am so frustrated and the extra weight is affecting my back especially, likely my heart too. I won't even go into how it affects me emotionally. I need to lose about 70 pounds to be at a healthy weight again. Thanks again.

I went from the band to sleeve.  For me the sleeve is all they promised with the band but I didn't get without the constant maintenance and pain.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Thank you all for your posts on this site.  I have been on and off for several years.  I am also planning on having my band removed.  I am now looking for a new Doctor.  I had no idea that there was so many issues involved with the band, I have certainly had my share of overfills, days being sick, heart palpitations, etc.  but nowhere near these issues.  Best of luck to everybody.

When I first was told I had to have the band unfilled after 1 year I cried I was so upset.  By almost 4 years out I was so ready to get it out even though I risked not being able to get insurance approval for the sleeve.  I was researching and saving to go to Mexico if I had to.  I am almost 2 years out with the sleeve and am at a normal bmi with out any medical issues any more.  My sister is 3 and my daughter is 4 years out with theirs.
