Lap Band Failure

I had lap band 4 years ago got 2 fills and never went back to Dr. I'm not going to make any excuses but have had a rough 4 years. Loss of a parent, job, no ins. etc and so on and I got very depressed and didn't lose weight.

Many times I would make an appointment with Dr. and never went back due to feeling like a failure I finally had the courage to make an appt. going tomorrow but dreading like a child of fear and embarrassment.

Has anyone gone through this and went back to Dr and how did it go for you?

Please share your story if that is ok.

Thanks

I don't have a similar story to tell but just wanted to say that things sometimes go wrong in our lives and just one more thing, in your case working with your band, can be more than we can handle.

Don't feel embarrassed! Just go to that appointment, get that fill (I am assuming you need one?) and start from then!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I totally agree with Kate, life happens and sometimes we get off track thru no fault of our own. Remember docs are people just like the rest of us, they aren't gods or our parents, they are just people. No decent doc would give you a bad time for being human and trying to get thru without insurance. So hold your head up high and tell him what happened (no insurance, etc.) and tell him you want to restart and need his guidance again. Best of luck to you!!

HI Ana

DON'T BE SCARED, or have feelings of being BAD LIFE HAPPENS, the BAND is only a TOOL use it to your advantage!!

Been there done that!! I was banded 4/2009  had a fill ,lost weight, moved, divorced, allot of LIFE stress....couldn't afford to see a Doctor in AZ then came back to Michigan gained all my weight and then some...

Restarted at my Doctor here in Michigan 4/2012 until now and have been successful in losing  90 lbs..

BUT have been having problems to many to mention here so I'll probably be having a revision in the near futureblush

BUT YOU CAN DO IT!! GOOD LUCK

I'm going to give you the lecture I always give people when they say they are in this situation:

REMEMBER THAT YOUR DOCTOR WORKS FOR YOU, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! His job doesn't end when he sews you up. Your success - and, by performing your surgery, HIS success - depends on him helping you EVERY step of the way, from Day 1 to Day 10,001.

Take NO **** from him. Do not allow yourself to be lectured, chastised or made to feel bad in any way by him or anyone on his staff.

And if you need me to go with you to read the riot act, just let me know.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.
