I am sorry you had to have your band out.

you have gained 60 pounds in 4 months???  What does your doctor say?

Is there a medication or type of supervised weight loss program you might try?

OA or weigh****chers?  It sounds like you need help to get things under control......ask for help!

I can't even imagine what you are going through. Don't know what you are doing currently, but,....
Maybe some basics:
Watch carb intake, it's what led us to our obesity in the first place.
Exercise
Journaling
Dense protein ( WLS or no WLS dense protein is still the way to go)
* I see a counselor who specializes in eating disorders, so much of this is sooo much in our "heads"! Consider going to OA meetings they even have them via phone in a conference style, you don't have to speak if you don't want too.

Nutritionist told me WLS or no WLS, when ever I eat a fruit to accompany it with a protein. It neutralizes your taste buds and no sugar spike.

I am NOT saying it will be easy, but maybe you can find something on this reply to help.

Are you considering another WLS?

My thoughts are with you,

What's the main reason you're gaining so quickly? Are you simply overeating because you can? Or are you taking any medications that might be adding to the regain?  When you say you had a "blockage" does that mean bowel? Or due to adhesions or something like that?  What was your doc's reasoning for not revising you to another surgery? Do you have too much damage?

I had my band done almost a decade ago... had it taken out about 8 years ago... kept the weight off for at least 2 years. But then I quit smoking, had a hysterectomy, took steroids for a considerable period due to an allergic reaction to CT contrast dye... and easily gained back all I had lost. Even though I was working out daily, really giving it my ALL, I couldn't keep from regaining.

I think our bodies become so screwed up from the band that our metabolisms go haywire. And when we're able to eat "normally" again, our bodies really react poorly.

Sorry you're going though this. I hope you'll find the right path. I haven't found what works for me yet... but I have grown in acceptance of myself in leaps and bounds, while still doing my best to stay healthy.

Revision on 08/21/12

Have you investigated revising to another wls? When my beloved band had to come out I new without a doubt that I could not keep my weight off without a tool to help me. My choice was the sleeve because it acts sort of like a band as far as restriction and if your band helped you as well as you say it did then you should look in to it. If a revision is acceptable to you then you should research all the wls types.

If your insurance has the one wls -per lifetime clause you would probably still be approved because of the proof of medical necessity of the removal and your weight loss with and gain without.

What ever you do good luck.

grannymedic1 is right!  Read my post below as My insurance had the once in a lifetime WLS policy.  I fought and won.  And she was talking about insurance that paid in the first place.

Now your friends my not have been covered for WLS in the first place.  If they where self-pay getting the band.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Try talking to your doctor, maybe he can arrange some help or help you find a support group in your ares.

I feel your pain.  I had my band removed.  Then I had to go thru the process if fighting the insurance to cover the sleeve.  They had a once in a lifetime WLS policy.  I was able to proven the band was removed for medical necessity .  I had to go thru the whole process again to prove medical necessity to still need the WLS in the first place.  During the time the band was out, I did ok the first three months.  Than I went on a 3 week cruise with free alcohol every night and most days and came home to Christmas.  While I really did pretty good with food Alcohol is my weight gain down fall.  I put on almost 30 pounds the last 6 weeks.

I knew I couldn't make it with out a tool.  I had already done months of resear*****ase the insurance fell thru.  I was ready to go to Mexico if I had to.  I KNOW I needed a tool bad.

I know exactly what you are going through. I had my band out on August 8th and gained 35 pounds until I started the pre-op diet for the sleeve. I wasn't even overeating. With out restriction, my appetite was insane and I ate the same foods as before with the band, but larger portions. The good news is that the weight has come off rather quickly now that I have the sleeve.

I want to send you a big {{{HUG}}} and encourage you to research and consider another WLS. Personally, I am very happy that I did.

Good luck! This too shall pass, my friend.
