Lap Band Removal Recovery - Eroded Band
A little over 3 weeks ago, I had my lap band removed due to erosion. Finding information on recovery time is really hard to do, so I figured I would come here and ask. I am feeling okay and have an appetite, but cannot eat very much at all and I am full. It is almost like the band is still there, and from what I could find, the pouch stays there for a while and slowly goes back to it's normal shape, but does anyone know how long that normally takes?
Everyone is different, depending on the severity of damage. My friend's band eroded it took her a over 2 months. Again, depending on severity and everyone heals differently.
So sorry for your loss,

When I had my band out, (mine was not eroded, but too much scar tissue formed underneath it) my surgeon explained that the scar tissue around the stomach would leave the stomach in the shape it was when the band was in place. During my removal, the surgeon cut away all the scar tissue, but I think that was because he had to in order to do the sleeve. Did your surgeon say anything to you about the scar tissue? I imagine with the erosion, that is really hard on your stomach and will take some time to heal -- more so than when you had your band put in.
I hope you have a good -- quick recovery!
Mine wasn't Eroded. It was "perfectly placed and normal" After I got it removed It felt like I was banded and more restriction than the first two times I was totally unfiled. They left me unbanded over four months and only could eat almost like before banding.
When I was sleeved it took the surgeon 45 minutes to "straighten out the damage" before he was able to preform the sleeve. He said the stomach never goes back to the normal shape without surgery to get it close to normal.

please help how did anyone get insurance to cover a revision...my lap band has become disconnected from tubing and port. they will only cover to have it removed saying only one surgery per lifetime....and that the revision is not medically needed.
So sorry, welcome to the world of self pay. :o(
I am in the same situation and unless you Change jobs or insurance it is out of pocket, driving many to go to mexico. I almost did just that , but was too fearful. So today just had the band removed and the surgeon said he would do all he could to put the anatomy back to normal. So I believe the reversal garbage that pitched this useless band was missinforming or not informing many!
