What are you eating today (Wednesday) or yesterday?
I had a nice, relaxing day yesterday, but all the cooking and hand washing have taken a toll on my hands: lots of painful little splits and tears. It happens every winter (cold weather), especially since working retail (extra germs, extra hand washing). There is a silver lining to it, though. I'm using it as an excuse to postpone some house cleaning I was going to do today.
Today's food plan:
B: protein latte
S: soft boiled egg, leftover potato pancake
S: banana & peanut butter
L: crab salad
S: raw baby carrots
S: trail mix
D: Babybel cheese, raw sugar snap peas
S: peanut butter banana chips
I'm glad to go back to the fitness studio today. I think this morning's class is step aerobics.
Have a splendid day!
Jean

B- eggs and lite sausage
S- protein shake
L fish and a veggie
S- nuts
S- cheese
D- shrimp and a veggie
I am anxiously awaiting Chris Powell's book on carb cycling. Should be here in the next week at the latest. Until then, I am doing ultra low carb. Went to the gym today- 30 min. cardio and weights with my trainer. Feeling good. It's a New Year and time to get back on track!
When I'm at work, I use a Gold Bond antibacterial lotion. When I'm at home, I use any old lotion, but not when I'm cooking because I don't want to transfer lotion to the food. I really ought to use rubber gloves when I'm at home, but that wouldn't work so well when I'm cooking. I'm a clean-up-as-you-go person in the kitchen, and I also wash my hands between handling different ingredients (especially fish & animal protein).
I've heard about carb cycling - seems to be popular right now - but it also seems confusing to me. I'll be interested to see your menus once you've read the book and put the plan into action.
ETA: My coworkers use Germ-X gel, but while that may kill germs, it's also rough on my skin, and the more tears & cracks in my skin, the more vulnerable I am to germs. Damned if I do and damned if I don't.
I think most people don't realize how deeeesgustingly dirty retail work can be, even in a nice, clean department store. Sick people sneezing & coughing on you and their money, careless people spitting chewed toothpicks, gum, and candy wrappers on the floor, people handing you dirty diapers to throw out, and then there's the occasional power-puking kid....

vip, what is the carb cycling all about? Maybe we should have a thread about that, if there isn't one already.
Jean, I like the L'Occitane hand cremes. The 20% shea butter ones are better than the velvet hand cream. It does not stay greasy. Pricey but worth it. I try and put it on and then gloves at night.
Today I am having:
Greek yogurt
Cottage cheese and fruit
BQ Chicken thigh and salad
Snacks are: Cheese stick and I don't know what else. I need to go to the grocery store today.
I had mentioned earlier that I do liquid smoothies for lunch. I am starting a 30Day Green Smoothie Challenge on Jan 15. Anyone interested contact VitaLady's web site. You pretty much need a VitaMix or a very powerful blender. I like these smoothies because I get all my fruits and veg in.
I am just learning about carb cycling. Read about it on lapband talk. People are having great success. Basically you alternate high carb (healthy carbs) and low carb days. I ordered a book by Chris Powell, should be here within the week. He is the trainer on Extreme Makeover, weight loss edition. Don't know the details of portions, carb count, fat grams. I will start a thread when I get the book for sure. Hopefully I'll be saying in rocks. Until I get the book I am eating low carb.
my hands, elbows, and the backs of my knees get very dry and cracked during the winter time. i use eucerin and aquaphor. the eucerin cream takes a bit to dry because it's a heavy heavy lotion for extra dry skin but it's powerful enough that i don't have to apply it every day unless i want to. i usually use that on my legs and my knees. the aquaphur i use on my hands. it doesn't take nearly as long to dry.
B: cheerios, milk, cranberry juice
S: --
L: bean with bacon soup
S: cheese and carrots
D: whole wheat spaghetti and turkey meatballs
S: protein fruit smoothie
My skin is super dry all winter and lotion doesn't do a thing. For the past few years I have been using plain old vaseline and my skin just soaks it in. No left over greasyness, and no fragrances to make it sting.
B. Shake
S. tangerine and wasa crackers
L. chicken salad
S. almonds and cranberries (dried)
D. Multi grain & bean soup
S. Not sure yet
