Thanks for asking! It's VERY TOUGH, very thinned out soup, broth, popcycles, jello and protein drinks are getting very old now since I am beginning to feel much better.
For the first 3 days, I had mainly broth, popcycles, crystal lite and water, added Unjury protein drink and milk on Thursday and I have 2 per day. I will stay with soup today, 2 protein drinks, jello and popcycles for today.
Next week, I will keep the same diet on Thanksgiving, I will probably progress to thicker softer foods like chicken broth, and very thinned out mashed potatoes and pureed veggies and some type of soft sweet treat, not sure yet. I may even try pureed tuna and egg salad as tolerated next week.
We are planning on going out to a buffet on Thanksgiving, we made reservations before I knew I was getting a new band, but I will deal with the menu accordingly. I am progressing pretty good much better than the first band despite having the old band remove, hernia repair and new band and port put in.
My surgeon did not tell me to stay on a very restricted liquid diet, but told me to progress with caution and as tolerated, I am very surprised that I have not had nausea, the only pain I have is port pain and left shoulder pain which is not really bad.
Also I can eat freely, no hard time getting fluids down or eating unlike my first band post op, I do notice, when I eat soup I have to stop at about 1/2 cup since I get left shoulder pain when I eat a bit more, not sure if he moved my band to a position to stimulate the vagus nerve...but this could also be part of my healing but I find it also interesting...
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down

Naomi,
your Thanksgiving Day will probably be so filled with gratitude for a second chance with your band that you won't miss a little food.
Honestly, when you think about it, it is ONE meal out of a year. There is so much to celebrate, our families, our health, our wealth (rich or poor, if you are reading this, you are wealthier than most of the world, right?).
Good job on taking it slow ... Letting that band settle in for a long, long relationship. Enjoy your ability to not numb with food and to feel every bit of gratitude you feel!!!!!!
