TGIF, except for those of us working in retail or food service. It's pouring rain here, which doesn't bode well for my work day unless customers are hunting down umbrellas and raincoats.

My food plan today is:
B: protein latte
S: baked oatmeal w/ fruit & nuts
S: egg beater & mushroom scramble
L: smoked turkey & provolone roll-up
S: trail mix
S: cashews
D: venison steak, cucumber salad
S: almond protein balls

I had a bite of noodles last night and it didn't work any better for me as a sleevester than it did as a bandster. Which is just as well.

I hardly dare say it for fear of jinxing it, but I think the iron supplement is helping already. If it's just a placebo effect, so be it. So looking forward (except for the part about going out in the pouring rain) to this morning's Cardio Blast class.

Have a great day!
Jean

Can I ask what baked oatmeal is? I was told not to buy the pre processed stuff in the bags, so I am looking for different ideas for oatmeal. Thanks!

You can find the baked oatmeal recipe here:
http://jeanslapbandjourney.blogspot.com/2012/10/baked-oatmeal.html

It uses regular oats, though I suppose you could use quick cooking oats. The problem with the little packets of instant oatmeal is that so overprocessed and full of sugar & chemicals. With the baked oatmeal you can control what's in there.

Great, thank you for the website! I dont want to eat the packets anymore due to all of the crap they put in it. I would rather have control myself. I bought regular oats last night because I dont want the other ones anymore. Thanks!

Jean,

Oh how I love cucumber salad regardless of how it's made...YUM! Not sure what I will be eating today, but I will try to catch your posts next week to try to stay on track and eat right.

I know for dinner hubby and I will go out tonight, but I will try to keep it healthy with a salad and protein.

Naomi,

What's your favorite way to make cucumber salad?

We have 2 favorite versions, one with cider vinegar and a little Truvia and the other with rice wine vinegar & a splash each of sesame oil and soy sauce.

I'm using up the last cucumber of the year from our own garden.
