exercise???
Hello everyone!!! Its been a very long time since I have been on here....Well I have a question for everyone...
I have recently (3 wks ago), bought my family a YMCA membership. So my question is, what is your best advice for workouts? I usually do the treadmill for 45 minutes on the "aerobic workout" at 3.5 speed. This particular workout varies from level 1 incline all the way up to level 9 incline. Then I will go and do like a circut training for about 20 minutes (using the weight machines)....I haven't lost any pounds wise, but I have dropped a pants size!
So any advice would be wonderful!!
I hope everyone is well, and thanks in advance for any advice!!!

That seems to be more than what I do! I can't walk like that.
My suggestion would be to mix it up. I work out everyday, but I don't do the same thing every day. I work out an hour a day, some days water aerobics, stationary bike, tennis, golf. Change it up. They all burn different calories and use different muscle groups. You sometimes need t fool your body.
Keep trying, it will come off. You have great success losing a pant size, you are building a lot of muscle!

That sounds like a good workout -- you might try to alternate the treadmill with the elliptical if there is one available.
It is good cardio and will challenge you.
Also, I recently started taking 'spinning' classes and love them -- I was really afraid to try one, but it is a great workout and not as hard as it looks.
When I do the treadmill, I usually just set it at 3.5 - 3.8 and do a 5 minute warm up -- then, I bump the include by .5 every minute (1 push of the button on my gym's machine****il I am at the max -- then, I stay at the max for 5 minutes, then I go down 1 click of the button every minute.
it breaks up the boredom of being on the machine ---- sounds like the 'aerobic workout' you are doing alternates it for you.
Good job on losing a size!!!!!

i can't walk on a treadmill for very long before my knees freak out on me. however, in it's place, i take aqua zumba, water fitness classes, swim laps back and forth until my shoulders ache, ride a recumbant bike, and lately started messing around a bit with the weight machines. these don't seem to hurt my knees. treadmills though, i only last about fifteen minutes before i have to stop :(
great job on losing the pant size though. :) it's how i guage my progress personally. since the fluctating of weight from fat to muscle makes me somewhat jaded, it's easier to watch my pants and shirts drop in size. more fun and motivational too.
