A bright, shiny good morning to you all. Well, not so bright and shiny here...It's 6:40 am and still dark outside....but I'm planning on a bright, shiny day nonetheless.

My food plan for today is:
B: protein latte
S: baked oatmeal
S: ricotta cheesecake fluff with blueberry fiber crisps
L: smoked turkey & provolone roll-up
S: trail mix
S: cashews
D: oven-fried catfish, braised red onions, barley
S: choco monkey protein balls

Yesterday was my appointment with my internist's NP/diabetes educator. I liked her a lot, but she wasn't able to wave a magic wand over me and make everything all better. She says my hunger is caused by the dramatic blood sugar fluctuations and that I'm doing what I should be doing to manage it - basically, eating constantly throughout the day and avoiding white starchy foods. She said I also need to be eating complex carbs (veggies, whole grains). There is no diabetes medication that can help me because all they do is bring high blood sugar down. She's having my blood tested for anemia and any other vitamin/mineral deficiencies, and checking my urine for (I think) electrolytes and signs of dehydration. I hope to hear from her on that today. I was frustrated and upset when I left the clinic yesterday but somehow I have to figure out a way to live with this and hope that things improve over time.

Today is yoga/pilates class, then it's off to work I go.

What's up with you today?

Jean

Yesterday was a food disaster...I've been having a flare of IBS for a few days, which I think is the root of my eating difficulties this week...it was downhill after breakfast :(.  I realized I haven't been adding my Floragen to my med box, since I keep it in the fridge, so today I am adding that, plus yogurt to my food plan to see if I can get off this roller coaster!

B: Mini Frittata Cups, recipe in separate post

L: leftover Italian pot roast + veggies

S: Dannon light and fit Greek yogurt, vanilla 3 oz

D: leftover Italian pot roast + small chopped salad
