Megan, just in case yore still reading your thread, I want to assure you that the "negative nellies" are giving you information you need to make an informed decision. I was like you, not wanting to hear the stories of complications or failure to lose...but here I am, most likely going to NEED a revision or band removal to preserve the health of my esophagus. You really should have an open mind and consider all risks and benefits, then make your choice. Good luck.We are no longer "negative nellies" we are from here out to be referred to as "Realistic Rachels"

Wow. I thought this was a support website? My dr recommended this site.

I'd much rather know the truth, even if it's not exactly great news than to be lied to in the name of "support."
I've been watching band complications happen since 2003. Over and over and over again. They happen often enough that it scares the crap out of me. They don't happen ALL the time... but enough that people SHOULD be concerned. It's our lives we're talking about, after all.
It's been about 7 years since I had my band removed and I still have lingering effects from it. I only wish I had known beforehand about the complications that happen. There were too few people who had bands when I had mine done... so I had no way of knowing. People who are considering lapband right now should also consider themselves lucky to know these things. That's support.
