While it is true that BoB isn't a procedure that I would personally want, I'm not here to bash someone for having it. I am just interested in what led them there. Especially in this instance, where the OP is also switching surgeons.

Not necessarily so. Surgeries don't work out for many reasons and the surgeon is not necessarily the cause. I know a number of folks who stayed with the same bariatric surgeon for multiple procedures.
I have changed surgeons for a variety of reasons, none of which actually have to do with surgeon competency. I don't feel my original surgeon is at fault for my band issues but I believe his own health issues are going to result in a sudden retirement. The surgeon I saw in Kuwait is, well, in Kuwait and I'm not. The surgeon my gastroenterologist referred me to has a messed up office situation which is running very disorganized and isn't serviced oriented. I'm very happy with my current situation. I know he's rock star competent and his office is well organized and providing good customer service.

I can understand that. I can also see, if the pouch was too big, why you needed a revision of some sort. If BoB works for you, then that's great.
Just as you are unhappy with your band, I was not happy with my bypass. Was it my fault? Yes, because i became complacent and didn't follow the rules. I'm not blaming my original surgeon. If it wasn't for him I would have never lost the 170 lbs. initially.
I would (and have) recommended bypass to tons of people. I didn't go back to my original surgeon because (1) I moved to another state and (2) as a self pay patient it was much more doable to spend $5500 in Mexico than $22,000 in Las Vegas.
And believe it or not, I am grateful to Carnie Wilson. Had she not gone on television and told the world she was having a band over bypass, I would have never heard of the procedure. But she did and I did and now here we are.

And, we've gotten to what perked my interest.
Your original surgeon has a good reputation. That was what got my initial attention. But you put into $ and Sense. And you went to another surgeon with a good reputation.
I suspect that the Carnie Wilson BoB is going to be good publicity for the surgeon who did it and the band in general. I also suspect Allergen is going to use it to legitimize (yeah, it's a pseudo word) the process through the FDA.

Not necessarily. The Lap Band is being approved, as a stand alone procedure.
Insurance companies don't generally pay for other than prescribed use of products. This is part of the reason why some of the iron treatments can be so pricey: their prescribed use is as part of dialysis program. I went through hell with one hematologist over this and switched to another whose protocol didn't have that issue (and whose office staff was much more pleasant).

CONGRATS!! Keep us posted, and know we're here for you anytime you need.
Good Luck on your Journey !!
