I need advise
With out sounding like a broken record to everyone on here, I had a Lap Band over my gastric bypass that failed 9 years ago about a year ago.(combo of myself being inmature, the dr, and my body being my own worse enemy...horrible combo lol) Its alittle different since the stomach my band is restricking was already altered, but my experience thus far has been a good one. My advice to you is read as much as you can on it. Being informed is the best way to go into something like this. I spent COUNTLESS hours reading and reading info on what to expect, planning the course to take with food, and understanding all that it entails. I think any info you get from this site is helpful. Positive or negative. People will have opinions and stories to share, good or bad, but the way I look at it is there is always an underlining truth. If their band failed them, that was just more info to read up on about possibilities of what COULD happen. Understanding that nothing is fool proof and know that if it dosen't work for you but you followed the rules, its not your fault. My thing was, if that did happen, could I handle it? A couple years ago no, prob not...but a year ago I made the decision to go for it so I can say I did try everything to get myself healthy. Its a gamble...so you just have to ask yourself, is it worth it. I will never try to sway someone for it or against it...but I will say, for me, I'm happy as of now.
Hope anything I said helps...but if not, goodluck with any choice you make :)

I agree – going to a good hospital would definitely increase your chance for successful lap-band surgery. Crystal M is right: lap-band surgery works only if you’re ready to work as well! It’s a good idea to join a bariatric surgery support group, post surgery, to keep you encouraged and motivated. There are lifestyle changes that need to be made and you need to follow a nutrition plan or you won’t see the kind of results you expect. I’d suggest lap-band surgery in NJ at Jersey Shore Medical Center, if you’re in the area. It’s a great hospital – they have years of experience and there is a team of doctors who prepare you for the surgery and also guide you after surgery.
