To splenda or not to splenda, That is the Question
Ok, I have a major question. I am hearing alot of stuff about the artificial sweetners not being good for us. I like to go to 7-11 before work and get my small coffee with ff 1/2 & 1/2 and two packets of splenda. What is a girl to do? Alot of co-workers were talking about the sugar in the raw brand but I don't want the added calories? What is a safe way to go about this. Coffee is not the only thing I put splenda in. Does that mean crystal light is out too? (which I depend on to help me get through the day to reach my daily intake of water)
I hear a lot on both sides of this as well. A friend of mine will not touch the stuff because it is "fake". Frankly, we are on a no processed food kick at our house and I do try to stay away from any sugar or sweetner because it is a trigger for me, but there are times I feel I must have a little something sweet. In those cases I reach for the Splenda.
I guess what it comes down to is what works best for you? If you are comfortable using Splenda, and it is helpful in your journey, then go for it and don't worry about what anyone says. As with anything else, moderation is probably a safe bet even with Splenda.
And, since you mentioned extra calories can I please tell you to check your fat free half and half. I didn't realize that a lot of the brands take the fat out and replace it with high fructose corn syrup! My hubby loves this stuff in his coffee, but the HFCS made him switch to a little whole milk instead. Just my two cents. :)

You can go to the website www.truthaboutsplenda.com for some eye opening information on Splenda......
I switched to Stevia in the Raw .......careful not all stevia is the same..... Truvia uses a 42 step process which involve the use of chemicals such as acetone, methanol, acetonitrile, isopropanol and tert-butanol.....better than Splenda but not as good as the natural product.
I have tried to switch to using Stevia in the raw for just about everything....the less processed the better.......I do like Vitamin water 0 and SoBe 0 which uses the more processed Stevia and I do like Jello sugar free pudding which does have splenda in it (doesn't seem to bother me). But that is it..........
I think it is like anything else in moderation........if you have to have the Splenda and it is only in your coffee then I don't see anything wrong with that......just be informed of what you are putting into your body..........I noticed that I am not as hungry since switching to Stevia....lots of recipes out there also....
I think the problem comes in when just about everything someone eats has it in it there are alot of processed food that has it in it.

Jello pudding switched to Stevia??!! The pre-made or the box kind? I'm so excited, I can't tolerate other sweeteners because they make me really bloated, so I'm excited about the possibility of pudding!
Now if I could just find chewing gum made with Stevia!
