Fail...??
Hi everyone. I had Lap Band surgery 2 years ago in May. Initially I did really well. I lost 38lbs. I have gained 8 of those back. I had 3 fills and would only feel the results for a day, two at the most. My surgeon is in a small town, has no support groups, no new technology...he was one of the first to perform the surgery.
I am not making excuses because I am well aware of the fact that it is all on me. My question is, should I try to find another surgeon, one with a large practice that offers support groups and can see how much fluid he is putting in my band?? I have been over eating so I guess I don't even know if my band is ok.
Any advice is appreciated, i truly dont know where to go from here.

Yes, try to find a new surgeon. I loved my surgeon but he had a horrible nutrtionist. So I did not get any good nutritional help starting out after surgery. Then my surgeon moved out of state. I was left just kind of hanging and not knowing what to do to move forward.
I have found another surgeon, joined their support group, have an appointment with his nutritionist and he has a connection with a nearby gym and fitness trainer. So I hope after 18 mos. I will finally get headed down the right road.
That is the good thing with the Lapband, we get more than one chance to get back on track. Good Luck!!

You might not have to see another surgeon to have a group. If you live near a large city, some of the hospitals may have support groups.
Have you tried asking your surgeon about starting a support group. I mean, you can't be is only band patient. maybe other patients want a group too.
