Hernia Issues anyone?
I developed a hiatal hernia from the lapband. But I haven't had surgery to repair it. I take a medication called Dexilant to offset discomfort caused by the hernia.
Gastric plication doesn't seem to be a good option for a lot of people, I'm sorry to say. It has its own set of issues.
Has your doc brought up the possibility of the Vertical Gastric Sleeve, by any chance?

I have a hiatal hernia. It may have contributed to my band slip, but my surgeon says it doesn't need repair unless I have major problems with it.
Traditionally, large hernias are a contraindication for band surgery, but most bariatric surgeons (except mine) routinely repair hernias during band surgery. I have a bandster friend who had what her surgeon called a HUGE hiatal hernia repaired during her band placement, and has had no problems since.
Gastric plication is still very new and I can't think of anything about it that would make it more appropriate for a hernia patient.
