Lap-Band...Is this the way to go?

I am still happy with my decision going on 7 years, most "Happy" lap banders post on all lap band  boards like lapbandtalk.com or other band only sites. I get my band filled when I need help, and get it loosen if it gets too tight (yes this can happen with the band sometimes, it's the nature of the beast)  and that has worked for me going on 7 years.

There are failures, complications and problems WITH EVERY SINGLE weight loss surgery, I chose the band because it was safer...NOT TOTALLY SAFE (the band can be very dangerous if it is filled too tight, but this can be easily fixed in minutes with an unfill) but safer than the other surgeries and so far, no complications or hospitalizations, I followed my pre op instructions of no solid foods for at least 6 weeks to allow my band to heal, I
did not get a fill until my port was fully healed...MANY DO NOT WAIT until their ports heal before getting their first fill, so everyone will not have the same great experience with the band, I exercised, followed the diet plan and I lost 130 pounds by 18 months...and so far so good, I would not change my decision for nothing, I wanted a surgery that gave me a normal life and the band has done just that.

I
am  very happy now at 7 years and I don't have to worry about ton of vitamins or have to get frequent lab work to check for vitamin deficiencies  that other more invasive surgeries requires.

Good luck to you.

If you get the band you will be making a very dangerous decision and are almost guaranteed to have a second surgery.

Click on the link in my siggy and you will be able to read about what life with the band is really like.
