I would never put a band on a sleeve. You may end up with a total gastrectomy after the band wreaks it's havoc on your stomach. If I need more past the sleeve it will be the DS.I agree with you completely on that! IMO banding a VSG is just asking for trouble (more so than the usual band trouble, lol)! DS is really the only thing that makes sense in this case.
I have had the sleeve surgery about 3 yrs ago. Since I had a scope done which confirmed that my stomach had streched back out after my pregnancy. They said my stomach was not as big as a normal persons stomach but was definately not the size of a person with a sleeve either. I took the advice of many that said to look back at my paperwork ...which I couldn't find....I have moved twice since the surgery. Anyways contacted my Dr. that did my surgery and he suggested getting the lap band now???? I agree it sounds scary. I remember in the pre surgery class them saying you could either get the DS or RNY after this but don't recall ever hearing I could have the band done. Right now I am trying to not drink before, during and after meals and eat slower to see if I can work the tool I have better. But being streched out I don't know if it will work or not???I guess time will tell. thanks for all the input everyone!
I wouldn't even consider a band over a sleeved stomach if I were you. You might want to research the DS.
Here's some info about banding, anyway. I really think you should consider a different approach, personally. I wish you the best of luck, whatever you choose.

Agree, please look into the DS. If your surgeon doesn't perform it, find a good one who will, you may have to travel out of state. Dsfacts.com is a wonderful resource with information about the DS.
My surgeon makes sleeves bigger for people doing the DS, than he does for VSG, I think this is pretty common since DS'ers need to take in more total calories than VSG patients. So with a larger sleeve, adding the malabsorption might be just what you need! The long term weight loss statistics are awesome with the DS. Good luck!

I second the recomendations to research the DS. I participate in the Youtube weightloss community and there is a sweet gal on there that had the sleeve, and then went in for surgery to get the DS configuration to her intestines. She has had good success. Here's a link to her videos
