I have no hunger between meals and it's now so much easier to make better choices.  I don't diet and no food is off limits...that's my lifestyle change; everything in small amounts.  I was a former major yo-yo dieter, so I got the Band to keep it off.  I'm now smack in the middle of a normal BMI and I'm almost 3 years post-op.

Nice reply...Thank you for the insight and doing a lot of homework... Jury is still out as to whether to do any surgery.    I backed out once because I was not ready.  It is an elective surgery and I have that option.  It must be nuts to see lap-band adds on TV,  Haven't seen one (Yet).  I'll stay in touch.

Change your mind as often as you feel like it. All WLS are still surgeries and therefore should be approached with extreme caution and tons of research. Just remember that whatever WLS you are researching, it is important to research it far into the future.

I can't stand the Lap Band jingle, it is so annoying & embarrassing  and you KNOW every time someone hears it who KNOWS you got the Lap Band is thinking of you every time they hear it

Thank you for your comments, I appreciate it.

 It's a combination of both.

Everyone who is successful short term and long term made a lifestyle change, ALL weight loss surgeries are tools. The band REQUIRES MORE dedication than RNY because there is no extra help with malabsorption.

But it does help you once you get it filled properly, but it will not make you walk or go to the gym, drink water, eat a healthy diet or see your surgeon for required fills and any needed unfills, these things you will have to do on your own to be successful.

Good luck

I would highly recommend not getting the band.

Too many problems and out of all weightloss surgeries this one has the lowest losses statistically speaking.
Have you looked into the sleeve?
