I have wanted to complete a 5k for years! Yesterday I started the couch to 5k with my hubby. He needs to lose about 25-30 pounds. The local Education Foundation is doing a 5K On March 17. So it is my goal to complete that 5K. It will probably be half walking and half jogging. I figure this will be a starting point and I can improve from there. My goal is simple to complete it.

Go for it! I have done several now snd can tell you it is a fantadtic sense of achievement. Decide what you hope to achieve, make it realistic and then go for it!
I'm a competitive sort and so set myself a time goal and the goal of finishing before all my friends apart from the elite runners. And I achieved it! I think a goal is good, whether it be a time or just, as Kath says, to complete the run.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I will be running though the Lincoln Tunnel in the First Responders Race in March! It will be my first 5k, and I am SO excited about it. I adore the C25k, it has really pushed me and got me moving faster then I ever thought I could. I did my best time tonight, getting in my 5k in 42 mins! My goal is to get it to around 35 mins before the race (although I registered as an over 35 minute runner just in case LOL).
