More lightweights getting banded?

Recently here in the US the FDA has approved the lapband for use with a BMI of approximately 30. Which means you'll be seeing more and more lightweights on this side of the pond opting for surgery.

Personally I am somewhat conflicted. I have been less than thrilled with my own Band experience, however I can understand a lightweight not wanting to make the jump into a malabsorbtive surgery like the RNY or DS.

As a healthcare worker I recognize somthing has to be done to prevent all the side effects of obesity, and the financial impact it has on our country, and individuals. Of course as with any disease process, early intervention is the key to success.
