AM I SELFISH BECAUSE I TELL MY MOM NOT TO DO WLS
Look at it from her point of view! If my children thought that they, in their 30s, knew more than I, in my 60s, do what is good for me, I would tell them just where to go!
Support her, share knowledge. But I would find it patronising to be told by a daughter who has herself had wls, that I was not somehow able to deal with it!
Kate.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Support her and make use of your own experience- if you give her the support she needs, I am sure she will make it through the pre-op diet. I was in the same position before, my mum was probably around 400lbs (we don't know the exact weight), but she was miserable. She had the sleeve two years ago when she was 60, and she feels and behaves so much younger. She is a completely different person, lost all her co-morbidities and has won back her life. Your mum knows what is good for herself, trust her and help her :)
