Band yesterday, hope I'm drinking enough!!
I'm glad your pain is low! Beware though..for me the 2nd day after surgery was more painful..but then by the 4th or 5th day, I felt close to normal. How quickly the pain becomes a blurry memory.
oh who am I kidding...I'm lucky if I remember where I've parked most of the time. Anyways..I personally did not have a hernia but it is very common to have a hernia repaired at the same time as your WLS. My surgeon told me beforehand that if he found a hernia during my WLS, he'd repair it. It's a routine step for him in his practice.

Yep -- I had a hernia repair with my banding.
Stay ahead of the pain ---- even if you don't need narcotics, you might want to keep on a regular schedule of Tylenol for a few days.
It took me several days to be drinking enough --- I just sipped as I could -- trying for an ounce every 15 minutes --- it felt like a full-time job to get in enough fluids.
It gets better!!!

Water was tough for the first few days for me too.
I just kept the "sip,sip, sip" mantra going through my narcotic infused brain.
The urine got darker and darker, till it was almost pumpkin orange by the third day. That's when the sips finally turned into a small mouthfull, and now I can even gulp water (but I haven't had a fill yet, so we'll see
)
It will get better. Hang in there.

No hernia noted for me. If I had one, they didn't tell me.
The thing that hurt worst for me were the incisions . . . where they go through your abdominal wall. I didn't realize how important your abs (core muscles) are until you try to sit up with a hole slit in 'em! Pillows held against my stomach when moving around helped a lot. Also, avoiding low seats where you had to use more muscles to get up and down.
I stayed in my bed the first few days, using a wedge pillow. Much better than my comfy chair.
As for fluids, you can usually count SF popsicles as liquids, so that's an easy way to get some down without being overwhelmed by a big ol glass of something.
(unless of course your clinic says no sugar free popsicles--stuff like this varies from surgeon to surgeon)

You will find room temperature water will be easier to get down and in order to get enough water in to prevent dehydration I always kept bottle water with me at all times. Good luck
