Banded today!

Hello,  I was banded today and fell pretty good actually.  I am a little groggy and feel a bit bloated and gassy.  The question I have for anyone who went through this is having extreme "cottonmouth" normal?  I do know that everyone has different symptoms etc, but my mouth is constantly dry.  I have been doing quite a bit of walking and have consumed a decent amount of clear liquids (probably 40 Ozs or so).  I have urinated 3-4 times and it appears the normal color, but my mouth is dry as a bone.

Thanks

Tyler

Welcome to the loser's bench, Tyler!

I, too, had cotton mouth after my surgery. Just keep trying to get as much liquid down as you can. It will pass in a bit.

Xerostomia, more commonly known as dry mouth, is a medical condition characterized by a significant decrease or halting of the production of saliva.Dry mouth occurs most commonly as a side effect of medications.  Some painkillers can stop the production of saliva and lead to dry mouth.

If there are not enough fluids in the body a person can experience dry mouth. Conditions that are associated with dehydration, such as diarrhea or high fever, can cause the mouth to feel dry. In addition to this, vomiting, blood loss and excessive sweating can contribute to the problem. In these cases, the condition is temporary and can be alleviated through the intake of liquids. Take note that it is not enough to just take in water, as electrolytes that are lost also need to be replaced. Many physicians recommend taking small but frequent sips of liquids to prevent dehydration.

I felt that way and was told by the nurse that is is common after anesthesia. Keep walking it helps the gas in your abdomen to dissipate.
Good Luck

Thank you everyone for your support and suggestions.  I was really bloated and full of gas yesterday, but was unable to pass much.  I did drink a lot of clear liquids and my urine stayed fairly clear, so I am thankful for that.  I woke up this morning and I feel great.  Most of the bloating is gone and I am able to burp and fart finally!  So I fel much better.  I started walking a ton afer reading everyone's suggestions and that really did help.  No I just kind of have a dull ache in my stomach area and lower back, but no pain at all inless I move suddeny\ly and bump or pull the incision areas.  Ifeel so good that we are going to go Christmas shopping today!  Thanks every one again.

You were banded yesterday and are Christmas shopping today???  WOW!

Be careful and don't push yourself tooooo hard.  Even though you feel great, you are recovering from major surgery.  Save some energy for healing!  And farting.

While you're at the mall, can ya pick me up a few things?

You are right, but I am a guy and can Christmas shop in no time!  No mall either, that would be too much!  Just a quick stop at Kohl's and Walmart.  Now home to rest and recover!

Sigh.  Obviously you didn't get my list!  Now I gotta go shop all by myself.  Sheesh.

Honestly though, I don't do malls, even 2+ years out!  Not unless I absolutely have to, and then nowhere near the holidays!  Tooooo scary and crowded!

Sounds like the shopping went well--enjoy the rest time!
