Checking In
Hi All most of the people i used to talk to im sure are not on here anymore. I had my surgery in 2004 and i just wanted to say to people thinking of the band surgery that i lost 100 lbs and have kept it off all this time. I know alot of people put this surgery down but i feel that it saved my life and i would do it again in a second any one with questions please feel free to email me take care all
Well done and thanks for posting. There is a popular misconception that because old timers drift away that they must no longer be happily banded. There are not any of us vets still posting and it is really good for newer bandsters to see people really are out there getting on with their lives.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Thanks for writing- I did need to hear that! I am scheduled for my lapand on Nov 22nd- I started my liquid pre-op diet 2 days ago and I am miserable! I was so thrilled when I found out about the lapband because I have been too afraid to get the bypass (i personally know 2 pple dead from complications!)Anyway- I started the process for the band and although I understood it was safer I guess I didnt understand how different they were- I started reading about the average person losing 50% of their EXCESS weight- I was upset- I mean that would put me back where I was 1 year ago- good start but I want to lose ALL- or at least 80% of my excess weight. I also starteed hearing all the people struggling with hunger and finding their "sweet spot" and all the foods they couldnt eat at all- I really started questioning my decision- I though maybe I should get the bypass or the DS- but in truth I didnt want to start over and wait wait wait- I was already so far into the band process.
I am just putting my mind to the fact that I have to MAKE this band work- The liquid diet has actually helped convince me I can do this- I had lied to the doctors telling them about tthe success I had on other diets because that was a requirement for my surgery- In all reality I had not ever been successful on a diet- I hadnt even really tried to lose the weight (i am not sure why- definatly some mental blocks on the weight being a guard etc- in theray for all that lol)- but since I had no diet experience to speak of I really got worried that the band was not going to be the right choice for me- then I started the liquid diet but I have been on for 49hrs and have been around food etc- and I have done great- I did eat one pickle spear and a string cheese- but all in all I really didnt think I would make it 2hrs! I have lost 6lbs in 2 days and I am in a great mental place-
Whew- sorry didnt mean to go on andon..but t is really important successful people tell their story on here-
Thanks soo much for your post-
Wish me luck- On my way to work (i work overnights)
Thanks, Michelle
