Awesome post. I'm feeling pretty bad lately because I have been sliding up the scale. I am a food addict. The support group I attended was full of brand new bandsters with the "life is good, I lost 20lbs this month" attitude. While I've been there and am happy for them, I need a support group for my stage. Coming face to face with the addiction, excuses, and wanting to quit. I've gained 10lbs and every day I set out to do it right and I just seem to talk myself into screwing up.
I enjoyed your post. I will try to take some inspiration from it to do it.

I'm an addict too, and you know what they say, "Admitting it is the first step"!

I gained 10 lbs last holiday season and it took months to take off again.  I'm trying to plan better this year and identify  the "red light" foods that tempt me the most.  Right now I'm committing to not bringing sweets into the house.  If it's there I'll eat it, and I mean all of it!  I also need to figure out how to handle cookies.  I do the baking now that my mother is 88 years old and last year this was my biggest down fall.  Of course, we really don't need all those cookies, none of us do, so perhaps I'll throw tradition out the window or maybe make only one variety instead of 12!  Afterall, it really should be about the family and socializing, not food but that's the way we were all raised, right?

My only advice to you is to stop doing what you know is derailing your WL.  I know, I know, it's easier said than done, but an alcoholic must give up alcohol and while we can't give up food completely we can give up the things that deter us from our long term goals.  Candy is my vodka, or whatever.  I just can't have it around.

Start with one thing.  What are you willing to change today?

The snack machine at work and cookies kill me. I also have ice cream and candy issues. I have been successful for 1 month of staying away from the snack machine and cookies. I can't have anything like that near me or I get this constant badgering in my head. I so understand "if it's there I'll eat it". I'm going to can the sweets....I did it with the snack machine, I can branch out from there.

Thank you. It is great to find someone who gets it.

Lisa- what can I say that's not stating the obvious? You've come a long way, but you know what? Even 3 years ago you have been beautiful, now you look beautiful AND confident. That's the way it should be.
Let me take your Surgiversary as an opportunity to say actually thank you to you, for all the encouragement  you are giving me and others and for the role model you are setting. You are an amazing woman Lisa, and you probably always have been- you just couldn't believe it :)

You are absolutely gogeous and thank you for all the inspiration.

God bless,
Evelyn
