Does this sound like a slip?

Hello everyone - been a loooooong time since I've posted on this board.  I was banded in April of 2008...haven't made it to goal but I'm a lot better off than I used to be.  Lot of it is related to me NOT doing what I am supposed to be doing.

Anyways, I had a baby 11 weeks ago and about 8 weeks ago I suddenly started having trouble getting food down...and liquid for that matter.  It takes a LOT of effort to get anything in (yesterday took 2 hours and some PBing to get a piece of chicken down).  I am also having terrible reflux at night...waking up to acid shooting into my throat while I'm sleeping - is this tightness or slippage?

If any of you have dealt with slippage - how was it fixed...a simple unfill or did you have to have surgery again?  I'm so nervous about losing my band

You may want to post this on the pregnancy after wls board.
But if I were you I would do liquids for a few days then mushies then try food sometimes you just have some irriation and taking a break like this works.
But of course if you can not even get liquid down go to see your doc ASAP.
Good luck

Sounds like something is definitely wrong.  You need to go have an swallow done to check the placement of the band.  Sounds like something is not sitting correctly, maybe something that can be fixed easily.  But I would not wait.

You need to see your surgeon asap, and ask for an Upper GI, those ARE classic warnings to either remove saline or your band has already slipped. There have been many over the years complained about their bands slipped or no longer worked properly after pregnancy, I am not sure if they followed protocols of removing saline during pregnancy or not, but there seems to be a trend in pregnancy and band slips.

It may just be the stress of sleepless  nights!

But it needs to be checked. IMO you shoud not wait and see- you need your strength from a good diet right now and, epecially if you are breast feeding, you must not get dehydrated.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I am BFing...for awhile I thought it was hormones making it tight but now I know thats not the case.  I am unfortunately in limbo between offices...trying to switch to one closer to home and cannot even afford right now to go to the old one (2 hours away)...and I've been waiting for weeks for the new office to look at my paperwork and decide if they'll take me on as a patient.  I'm so tired of not being able to eat and really don't like waking up in the middle of the night choking on acid.

Call the doctor you have now, and ask them if they can give you a scrip for an upper GI which can be done at a place that is closer to you and they will send them the results. This way you can get an idea of what is going on, and if its a slip then you find a way to drive that two hours or you can call and bother the new do****il you get an answer from them. If it is a slip you DO NOT want to go too long without having it fixed, it can (and did in my case) cause damage that can not be fixed.
